Midland,
Texas (Jan. 23, 2006) - Actor Michael Dorn will be in Midland , Texas , Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, to film a pilot presentation for a proposed television series about the Commemorative Air Force, its stories and its aircraft. A press conference is scheduled for 4 p.m. in the main CAF hangar.
Dorn is perhaps best known for his portrayal as Lt. Commander Worf in "Star Trek: The Next Generation." He has appeared on-screen as the same character in more Star Trek episodes and movies than anyone, playing Worf for 12 consecutive years from 1987 to 1999 in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Dorn made a grand total of 282 "Star Trek" appearances and is one of only six actors to appear in the finales of the two different "Star Trek" series. He also directed the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" episodes "In the Cards," "Inquisition" and "When it Rains." and the " Enterprise " series episode "Two Days and Two Nights." Dorn has also appeared in "Rocky," "The Santa Clause 2" and in "Ali," as well as in the television series "CHiPs."
Dorn is a great choice for the CAF pilot as he has an interest in aviation and vintage aircraft. He owns and operates a T-33 trainer jet, one of the first jet aircraft in the U.S. inventory, and a F-86 Sabre jet that he acquired from the South African Air Force. He has also flown with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. -30-
